Does any one know what the hand brake switch is off and where to get one from?

Hi Andrew, You do not mention which car this is for....there are 2 types of switch the early type is as you would find on a motor cycle brake switch (this type has two wires, one that is to earth and has a centre pin with a spring connection that is worked by the hand brake lever after being mounted on its bracket, on a minor chassis tube several inches away)this type can be broken by to much tension on the spring and old age, the later type is a earth out unit that mounts to the handbrake lever itself and has a contact that will need cleaning once in a while (we chemically clean the contacts and replace as is when rebuilding our cars we do stock these BUT have never had to replace one in 20 odd years) IT IS a B****R to set up, this type also has a link to the brake fluid warning light that is within the fluid cap on the brake master cylinder so checking the bulb is easy ...just press the test switch on the cap.
