Another laptop question

I've recently been looking at getting some external hardware for my laptop which require USB2 ports, my current laptop only has USB and although I know you can get a USB2 card I thought I might just upgrade.

Don't know what spec to look for but we want it for the following:

Predominantly web browsing
Fast writable DVD player
Ability to play PC games (currently laptop very jerky and it's not practical).

Pretty much all singing, all dancing and wizzy!!

Any suggestions appreciated.

I did take note of the previous "what laptop" post and have a slightly larger budget of up to £1100 and quiet like the toshiba qosmio range ,PC World have the F20 one in for £999 online and althougth it only has a 15" monitor it will hook up to the tv
