I am considering taking my wheels off periodically to clean them properly and to do this I will purchase a trolley jack, axle stand/s and a decent torque wrench to make sure the bu**ers don't fly off at speed . Any idea of the torque setting for the wheel nuts? Also what type of jack, stands, wrench etc. would you advise?

100-125 Nm is the torque setting for the wheel nuts on a Monaro/sedan.
Try not to use the wheel "spanner" that comes with the car, If it is shiny metal it strips easily I have found. If it the Black hex shaped item, it is much better, however you may have to watch it with aftermarket wheels as it might scratch the actual wheel. I carry a wheel brace in my car and normally use a trolley jack when at home or at the drags. I have seen people put it under the diff housing and jack the whole back end up, although it can be hard to get the trolley jack there if the car is lowered. If you look in the owners manual it should explain where to jack the car.

Jeff, just a word of caution when jacking up a monaro with a trolley jack. The manual shows the box section between the sill and the front chassis rails as suitable, but if lifting one corner at a time, this tends not to be strong enough. Better to push the jack in a bit further to where it is joined to the chassis rail.

Buy the best jack you can afford. The real cheap ones are not worth getting, go for the ones in the £60-70 price range. Hopefully will come with a rubber jacking pad too!

Thanks for the advice. What about the rear of the vehicle? Are there any problems there?
