Unfortunately Clarkson was at his jingoistic worst tonight. Having shown real appreciation for the 996 GT3 RS and what seemed a softening of his old ways in the previous series, today he was back at it with his comments about Germans and French (did you see how uncomfortable Hammond looked at the Poland sat nav comment? ) and refusal to acknowledge the 911 the superior car after it demolished two more expensive cars in the wet.
For all his enthusiasm for quality performance cars, he remains a pompous tw*t.

I may have had a sherbet or two this evening but I thought Clarkson, as pompous as his TV persona reflects, was at his jingoistic best (I laughed - I work for a French company who buy from the Germans for use in the UK) - this is a light entertainment programme, aimed at people who want light entertainment (if Hammond looked uncomfortable, it was because it was in the script!). Wouldn't it be boring if everybody agreed with everything all the time anyway?
I find these tests on TG more of a bit of fun than to be taken seriously.
Knew Hammond had ordered a 997, so he was always going to pick that one, May is a Porsche fan too (has a boxster) though I was slightly surprised he didn't pick the Aston, and Clarkson has no time for 911's and I could't see him deciding on a BMW over an Aston any day.
So learned nothing new, ie the Porsche is a great drivers car, the Aston sounds & looks great but is a little underpowered & the M6 is just a techno-barge with a big engine and the M5 is a better bet.
Can't wait for the 997TT.

Thing is, he's an entertainer rather than a great journalist. If he was simply a motoring journalist he'd be boring and he wouldn't have such huge viewing figures.
I think TG is a great programme. Sure, they spout cr*p from time to time, but they do it in such an entertaining way.
Anyway, if it wasn't so entertaining, it wouldn't have the viewing figures. Doesn't have the viewing figures, not aired. Not aired... I'd have to read a book on Sunday evenings
He's very good at what he does.
PS. Last night was great - particularly the star ranting he (Clarkson) knows nothing
