I downloaded Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight for a Compilation CD I'm doing, played it and recognised it from a film. Can't for the life of me remember what film, although the scene its in could be dark, cars involved somewhere I think.

Any ideas?

You saw Miami Vice you did, the one where he had a tiff with the missus, jumped in the Daytona Spyder and drove through town at night, well good, nearly as good as Dark Night by the Blasters with a similar setting

I'm old enough to think Miami Vice is too modern and trendy for my taste.

There was another one with a Dire Straights track... brothers in arms I think. I'm spotting a theme here

Miami Vice = Well cool though, did you see the episode where Phil Collins was one of the main characters?

miami vice was considered cool in the eighties - I used to roll the sleeves up of my silver (yes, silver) jacket when I went out, armed with loafer and white socks ( the shame) and reeking of Kouros (the true 80's fragrance)

I thought the daytona was a replica - driven by Tubbs - crocket had the testarossa.

It was a replica but Ferrari lent them the white one

Both owned one after the other by Crocket. Tubbs had a blue convertable, I think it was a Caddy

Cotty is right - both Ferrari's were owned by Crockett. The Daytona was a replica and you can tell from the interior on some of the shows. The testarossa was a real Ferrari given to them by Ferrari following the success of the show but they also had a replica which they used for chases/stunts.

already discussing this elsewhere...

Crocket didn't 'own' either, they were vice seizures, 'loaned' to him for undercover stuff

the daytona was a replica, corvette based, in the show it got blown up with a stinger missile or somesuch

ferrari north america gave them two black testarossas, they painted them white to show up better at night (!) and they had a replica 'stunt car' for most of the spirited driving based on a pantera

i think Tubbs had a '60 caddy convertible

/cue the boss in husky voice: "hugoagogo, you're in too deep on this one, you're off the case"

A Pantera is a pretty cool car in its own right
