Went to the American car meet at Valley Park tonight and thought I'd have a play around with a 10 million candle power torch to see if I could get some different results. There are lots of different light sources over there which make things difficult. I realised I need to make a diffuser for the torch as it is too directional, more than one torch would have been better too. Anyway here are the results, some are OK (I like the blue pickup ones best), some not so...

I reckon you would get good results by playing the light beam all over the car on (say) a 5 second exposure, rather than in one spot. Could look interesting!

Interesting idea though,

That's what I'd do, long exposure and move the beam about.

Interesting experiment. Does make one realise how powerful even regular flash is. How big was the torch you used?

I wanted to try and get some interesting highlights (the continental kit on the lincoln) and shadows (like the window in the roof of the truck) rather than douse it by running the torch all over the car. I was caught in action...

You can see the power of the torch

My favourite is the Lincoln. You could probably use a supermarket shopping bag as a diffuser to start with - should be a few of those blowing about a car park like that !
