Win 2000 platform.

Was turned off while booting up. Now reports Inaccessible Boot Device Stop 0x0000007B and will not boot. Get the F8 and progress bar across the bottom of the screen. Then the white windows logo and the other loading smaller bar.

Then Blue screen.

Have tried booting in safe/logged/last known mode and all blue screen with same error. I dont have a 2000 boot disk?(What would I need?). I tried booting from floppy that I have (but its win95) and cant/wouldn't see the win2000 file system. Booted also from a CD with XP installation on, doesnt have an option to get to prompt only.

How can I get the PC to boot?
How do I rebuild my "inaccessible hard disk"?
Have I lost any information on the Hard disk(Will I be able to access it)?

You could try 'last known good configuration' on the boot options menu, not guarenteed but worth a shot. Have you got a Windows 2000 install CD? If so, you could boot off that and try to fix it... best bet is to go into the recovery console and run chkdsk. If that doesnt work same again and run a 'repair'.

Sounds like you'll need a Win2k CD. Boot from it and do a repair. At this point, just let it run a disk check.

Just a thought, have you added any disks to it or changed anything else before the problem occured?

Got a copy of w2k on CD, booted and repaired. All ok now.

Lesson learnt - backup my misses BTEC work, as the weekend was hell, and if I couldnt have gotten her documents back I would be able to write this now!

Don't know, but I would try to get into the BIOS setup screen and check the device was visible and enabled as a boot device.

Assuming for a moment that this is a driver issue, I think your data is most likely intact (if somewhat hard to get at).

If it were me, I'd look at this webpage: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822052 and start working down the list.
