Softer Clutch Pedal Feel !!

I just got a 2002 911 C4 (996). The clutch pedal is really, really hard! I hurt my left foot in a snowboard accident last season, and now with this clutch it is back to hurting me after I drive for an hour or two in LA traffic.

Has anyone figured out how to modify or replace the clutch so that it gets a softer pedal feel? I am thinking of a special pressure plate or custom hydraulic cylinders or so?

perhaps the most obvious ans simplest solution would be to trade in for a tiptronic? you might lose some money, but probably no more than replacing the clutch would cost (which is what you seem to be considering). and the outlay will be worth it just to avoid the misery of a lousy back
