Gus, just go for any Thatcham approved one; it'll do the job - Thatcham say so.
I personally would stay clear of Cliffords as I have had two and both have been paranoid, lots of false alarms. Toad tend to get good reports. Maybe try one of them, but I wouldn't worry about it.
Just don't spend too much - some alarms will cost more than your car

Hi
Thanks for the replies; I'll get any thatcham one I think
clubsport > can't get classic insurance on it due to to having no no-claims (was borrowing a mate's car for a couple of years) and it being my main car (usually classic means it's not your main car) but i have tried this. You're right it does sound like a lot of money but if I own the car for 2 years then I will get the money back and also should help sell if if I do sell up. Best quote I've had was around the £950 mark if I can reduce this by £150+ it will probably be worth it. Peace of mind as well i suppose as I live in the city, no garage, and older cars are easier targets. I am also planning on haggling the total cost of car including alarm installation at the place i'm buying it from so may get a good discount if all from the same shop.
Thanks again!
Gus
