9/11 "Ground Zero" and the 911 "Porsche"

I wondered about this at the time but thought it inappropriate to post. Perhaps it is still not appropriate but I feel time has moved on. I hope no one gets me wrong on this and no offence is caused :

To what extent (positive or negative) do you think the terrorist acts of 9/11 have had influence on the branding / plans / thoughts etc of Porsche regarding their 911 ?

The car came first and anyway it should really be 11/9

the car was originally going to be called 901, but Peugot had a problem with it so it became 911 (or so I'm lead to believe)

I don't think 9/11 has any relavence on 911 though.

none. but i hear that sales of things that are £9.11 have plummeted.

I remember reading at the time that Porsche did give some thought to changing the designation, but that they decided not to as the two were sufficiently de-linked as to not impact the car.

I had heard, and maybe one of the cousins can correct me on this, that Porsche had been branding the car as a Carrera for a while now.

but the public will always call it a 911 - and rightly so!
