New Maserati !!!
Discussion
There are several schools of thought.
1 - Cheaper Maserati's using Alfa's new "premium" platform (159/Brera).
Autocar have indicated both a "baby" Q/porte and Coupe/Spyder could be spun off of this platform. Likely to have 4WD and a V6.
2 - Existing Q/porte underpinnings.
The replacement for the current coupe and spyder was put on hold several months back when Alfa Romeo replaced Ferrari as owners of Maserati. This was then supposed to have turned in the Ferrari Dino/California project. However, most recently the Maserati prototypes have been spotted out testing again. Indications are this car might be launched in '06.
I've posted a couple of links in a previous post, so I'll bounce that back to the top so you can see it.

if it ends up being 1), I'll be disappointed. No doubt it'll be using the 159/Brera floorplan, and what we are seeing in terms of stats are not encouraging: heavy car, bhp on premium model up on top-of-the-range GT/GTV (now 260BHP from 3.2 V6) but performance down (0-60 in 6.9 secs).
Hopefully Maserati will be able to work some magic, though I expect they will be looking to use a V6 too? Could be a big challenge.

The top man at Fiat has said the next generation coupe/spyder WILL be based on the Q/porte underpinnings.
But also goes on to say Maserati must also use the 159/Brera platform too. That to me says we'll get both.
