I am looking to buy a UK 7 type or Fury/Phoenix to convert to LHD.
I live in Italy so LHD is a must.

Caterham have said not possible.
Stuart Taylor have said might be possible but only with car engine.
Fisher (the most helpful and friendly so far) have said it probably could be done but with lots of cutting and welding.

Can anyone help with information or advice.

Thanks Olly

Hello Gobber Man,

;-)

Ah... thanks I will talk to Tiger and see if a conversion could be done on a UK model (to save me having to register a new car in Italy)

It's just in Italy we all drive like loons,Belgium is much more gentile! Should give it a go with a RHD short term but am thinking it could turn into a (small) side business if others are interested. Love the photo on your profile.

Like loons ... yes! That makes life easier with a RHD ... you can overtake cars from the left or right! Italian drivers seem to be glued on the middle or left lanes on highways ;-) I know, that's not the better place to use a kit car! Was joking about italian drivers. I can, I am half italian!

If you and others, with RHD (or LHD) kit cars, come to Belgium, I would be happy to meet you and join for a few miles.

Thank you for the picture (it's my G27 S3, I also have a G27 S2 and a Midas)

Cheers,

Stefano

I was at RAW yesterday and they just happened to have a brand new LHD Striker there (very smart it looked too). Apparently its for someone they work with in Holland, he gets the kits shipped over to him and the car is built as LHD. The complete car is then shipped back to the UK and SVA tested and registered in the UK. Then it's re-registered as a Dutch car when it's 'imported' into Holland. I don't know if you can pull the same trick in Italy, but it might be worth looking into rather than converting an existing car.

If you're not bothered about actually building the car, you can get rid of the convulted shipping stuff about by just having a LHD turnkey car built, it'd probably be cheaper that way anyhow!

Have you considered the Dax Rush "super 7" : this was originally designed ans the Donkvort and made & sold in Northern Europe as LHD , but DJ Sportscars bought up the manufacuring rights. I am aware of a number of LHD Dax Rush cars which were converted from UK RHD cars (certainly one is now in Holland). Suggest you may want to contact DJ SPortscars / check the RushOwners UK website.
