I do love a nice dry winter ride.

For various reasons id not ridden in ages- must be 2 months+! agggggh ive been going stir crazy!

So after going mad at the weekend with its lovely weather but me miles from the bike- I finally got a lovely blast today.

Ok so i only got back in when when the sun had gone down & it took about an hour for the feeling to come back in my hands (christ knows where ive put my winter gloves?) & i forgot to take my neck snuggy! so rather chilly there too, but ahhh i feel so much better.

Happy lizard

Had a similar thing yesterday - two friends and I went out for most of the day, covered nearly 150miles with a lunchstop in the middle. Spent half of that on my old Bandit6 actually, chasing the owner who was on the other guy's ZX6R (other guy was on my 7R). It was hilarious, he couldn't lose me - in order to get the Bandit to go around corners at all i had to hang off like a chimp and really wrestle it. The rear suspension on it is knackered. According to the guy behind, the footpeg was almost scraping on most of the corners, I know the bike felt like it was going to throw me into the nearest hedge. Fantastic fun though, having to really work for your kicks, rather than sitting on a capable bike that helps you to ride fast

When we got back we stiffened the Bandit's rear shock to the max and dropped the forks through the yokes about 15-20mm. Seemed to handle a bit better after that

I don't mind riding in the cold, just hate it when your hands get cold then go numb.

Now riding in the rain, thats fun! not

It's freezing mate, I might resort to taking the train to work to save my knackers from going blue

Riding at this time of year is kak.

Every time you set to bring the front wheel up, the back just spins up in protest on the mulch of leaves and permanent moisture!

Wet drain covers, roundabouts, etc. No ta. Shall be 4 months before she comes back out of hibernation.

See you next summer.

ZZZZzzzzz..

Great to know that I'm not the only one who enjoys winter riding. "Chilly but sooo satisfying" sums it up perfectly.

After a long old day at work, the concentration to ride home smoothly on a chilly night can be one of my favourite biking moments.

I hate riding in really cold weather. I tried it last year and fell off my GSXR600 at about 10 mph turning into a junction with a frosty bit on it. I lost the front so gracefully too. Stood up, checked the bike over and carried on.

I put it down to cold tyres at the time so did a burnout and lots of front wheel locking on the next straight bit of road to try and scrub some heat into the tyres.

I ride through winter every year and yes it's not as nice as summer, but riding in the wet and cold
is still better than not riding at all. It's more difficult, takes more skill and concentration
and therefore is utlimately more satisfying IMO.

The best bit being (as with skiing) when you come home having exterted yourself and get the chance to warm up again.
There's nothing like it.

(and not to mention the small fetish with thermal underwear
