Sorry guys, only a tyre question. I've tried the searches for an hour now and can't find much by way of tyre advice for a 993 C2.

Unfortunately I am low all round. It's just passed it's MOT but I will need to replace all four boots soon. At the moment on my 17 in cups I'm running Contisport Contacts
255/40 ZR 17 rear
205/50 ZR 17 front.

Options are replace the Contis for £560
Pirelli Pzero's £552
Michelin Pilot £646

Any thoughts?
Finally, maybe a silly question but I take it the size of the tyres will be uniform accross the brands? No option to vary in any way?

To confuse matters even further, I either stick with the 17 in cups and get the tyres as above or I upgrade to 18in Turbos 1's with tyres for app £1500-1600 (Jasmine).
Any advice and opinions gratefully received.

I'd go for pilots i have tried many and these suit the car very well.
Try www.design911.com They have some very good wheel and tyre deals,they might be replicas but that would'nt put me off.

1. For a standard 993 C2 on standard suspension i'd keep the 17's.
2. For standard 17's on standard suspension i'd stick with standard tyre sizes (which is what you have quoted).
3. For all weather conditions, all year round use with mixture of motorways, track work, A and B road blasts, everything, i'd go for Continental SportContact 2 N2's.
Better than the Pirellis in just about every way, and an equal to the Michelins in every way except noise (where the Michelins are a bit louder) and price (the Michelins are more expensive).

All IMHO, etc, but based on my quite incredible thirst for tyres....

had N1's all round, superb tyres, bought N2's on recommendation from the users here and so far no complaints (although the N1s did feel a little more responsive from the front end)

I bought them for high miles wanting the best wear but they grip good too.

I'll second Verysideways - I reckon the Conti's are the best all round tyre - great in the wet (very important here in Wales )

Thanks Chaps. I was hoping to upgrade to 18 in alloys but most seem to believe that 17in are the better all round wheel for a standard C2.
From what I'm hearing the ride with 18in wheels would be firmer, more tendanccy to tram line and little extra benefit apart from pure looks.

Just checked the inside of my fronts... Whoops, on the wear blocks. Pair of Conti's ordered for mine, 225/40 ZR18. £258 fitted and balanced.

Hope they are better thasn the Pirelli's I've got at the mo
