Just tried a 3.4 Carrera as against my 3.6 and was very surprised at how much slower it was, especialy in the mid range. Am I right in thinking that it does not have the Variocam system on the 3.4?, the difference was more marked than the extra 200cc would suggest.

Sounds poor without the PSE as well....

I'm sure you will feel the difference more, but put the two cars side by side from a standing start and you'l be lucky if you are a car length ahead by the time you hit mark hundred.
Its the mid range where the the 3.6 feels alot faster.

In the real world there is no difference - the 3.6 is slightly more powerful (20bhp) & has a little more torque but its heavier than a 3.4 car so negates this advantage.
I have had both & agree the 3.6 feels more punchy mid range but nothing in it on the road.
