Just hopping over from the Cerbera side to say hello as I'll be taking delivery of a 2004 Monaro in the next week.
I've been reading the posts for a while and you seem a good crowd on here.
I'd also like to thank Graham from Picador for his assistance beyond the call of duty as I had sourced a car elsewhere,
but his deals on offer were stunning and his advice and enthusiasm were very refreshing.
More from me soon and you will see the 'high profile' CV8 very soon.

Welcome, another TVR owner joining the fold!
Thanks, I may also be adding a Smart car to get the full set.![]()
The Smart/V8 combo is a winner. Welcome to the forum.
The Cerbera was one of my favourite cars until I went to drive one & discovered that I was too tall. Plenty of leg room but no headroom. Peter Wheeler has long legs & short body!
With hindsight it may have been just as well, as the two people I know who did buy them, both ended up selling them & buying Porsches as they couldn't face another car that spent more time at the dealers than with them!
Hope you enjoy the Monaro, fit a Supercharger & you won't be too far behind the Cerby for speed thrills.

Thanks Tom.
Looking forward to being able to compare the two as this is more important than you know!
I'm keeping the Cerbera, it has never let me down in two years (runs to find large piece of
wood!
) but I need a performance work horse car and from all I know and have been told,
this fits the bill in every way for what I need.
I'll start with a remap and advance from there.

You've been lucky, I'll send you a rabbits foot! Just rembered another friend who had the speed six version, meet him @ Brands where he was singing its praises etc. I noticed that it was for sale a couple of months later though!
When it was working, my mates 4.5 was ballistic though & I loved it. Sadly I could only experience it from the passenger seat. Great soundtrack as well, different from our cars which is due to the flatplane crank (actually no idea exactly what that is!) I guess.
My advice would be to do the brakes first, then if you really want big power go for the S/Charger option. I've argued this before, but I reckon if your serious about having big power you'll probably end up with a S/C anyway & as such you'll have wasted the money on some of other mods.
Bigger headers & exhaust are needed for S/Charger so these could be done.
With the right suspension set up, the chassis can easily cope with big bhp/torque fiqures & still be a reliable everyday car.

Hey we must get a magazine to do an article on the four Holden/smart combo owners!
Count me in Will.
Actually It's sort of the rather inane topic that the likes of Top Gear would go for. J.C is a big fan of our cars as well. I've only just got rid of the smell of cigs. from when he had the car for a few days do an article for his S/Times column.
I know that lots of high profile Drivers have Smarts, Sterling Moss certainly used to have one if he doesn't still, as I've seen him driving it a couple of times. I think Schumy might also have one!
It's a chalk & cheese combo though, the original 600cc Smart & the 10X bigger engined 6000cc VXR would be funny.
Graham as a 4 time TVR owner I've often followed the chit-chat on the TVR forums, and as a (now-ex) HSV owner, I have no doubt whatsoever that you'll love the Monaro. You must however have a listen to a Wortec modded car. My mate on here (AGH) has just swapped his M3 for a 55 plate CV8 with Wortec brakes, ripshift, remap and exhaust. The noise is akin to a SE-AC and as you know it doesn't get much better than that! The cars are very reliable, and I'd wager this the friendliest forum on Pistonheads. Enjoy the car and enjoy the fact that cars like this are/were still being made. One year old examples are the bargain of the decade.
hehehehehhehehe...
Luckily 4 me it's constant bumbs & vibration that give me greif & more than an hour or two at the wheel is all I can handle! Jesus, if I couldn't let the arse hang out on roundabouts I'd of had it sorted way b4 now! Funnily enough, I find being in the smart way worse cos my arse seems to sit right over the rear axle & every little bump goes straight up my spine. Anyway, looks like I'm under the knife on dec 12th when they piss off the dud disk & chuck in a bit of bone from my hip. Here's hoping I don't have to get linden's to add hand controls & a knob on the steering wheel the week after!
