It will never work anyway so don't worry. We can always smash the cctv cameras and beat up the guys that install them.

Erm...
theregister article said:

The new offence of keeping a vehicle without insurance criminalises the previously harmless pastime of keeping an uninsured vehicle in a garage and not driving it

when did this become law? or hasn't it yet?

Is anyone still doubtful that we have a bunch of control freaks in government and other "high" positions?

I think this is a bit of hysteria. I'm not fully aware of this plan, but I think a bit too much is being read in to it. ANPR is out there. CCTV has been out there for years. This system is already in place in effect in the City of London. All CCTV in London is already managed by one central database at NSY.

Calm down dear..........

Thank god for another sane voice on this hysteria.

This website is well known for their bull_shyte stories.

They get a story and re-write it for their own publicity purposes.

Brings in the advertising revenue.

Just because its already out there doesn't mean we shouldn't be worried though does it?

It's the purposes to which it MAY be put concerns me. With the ever more oppressive, nanny-state legislaton that being written combined with the rate technology is changing (I WON'T say improving), how long will it be before we are ALL doing 'something' the government doesn't like but never before has had the tools to prevent.

Accept the fact that governments, wherever they are in the world, in whatever guise, have one primary objective. To stay in power and will use any and every means that they think they can get away with and are at their disposal to achieve that aim.

Some interesting info on the background to that film at

www.rotten.com/library/culture/brazil/

Didn't know there were 5 versions for instance.
