Don't know if I agree them after driving back in the pissing rain tonight in my 993tt. The handling's great even in the wet, the car demists brilliantly, the lights are good, BUT THE WIPERS ARE CRAP!

Has anyone identified a particular make of wipers that does a superior job of it? No smearing, perfect clarity directly after passage of the wipers, etc.? Any good advice gratefully received.

Hmmmmm.... I drove from Essex back home to London with it absolutely belting it down last Sunday morning (really was hammering it down) and found the wipers able to cope on the fastest setting - have you changed the blades? Also RainX might be worth a go.

Bought some Bosch ones from local Halfords before running down to the Ring in Oct - rained all the way there, while there and some of the way back. Wipers worked brilliantly...

The ones on the car are Bosch - though they show no signs of being worn out I suppose that I'll just change them and see. No miracles wipers then...

I can't remember who makes them but you can get silicon blades that are very good.

I have a 996 and the standard ones work fine on that. You should find that any new set will work better than your current ones. For OE spec complete units, Bosch take some beating.

If you use RainX, don't use the wipers. I once drove the whole way to Barcelona in the rain, without using them once, using RainX.

Plenty of speed increases the efficiency of RainX

Use RainX - you'll hardly have to use your wipers. My screen has been greasey recently for no apparent reason. Maybe we're suffering from the same thing?

We have found that the Bosch ones do not stay in shape for long, our recommendation if you can get them are the Champion blades as seen here.

Also depends on what shape your screen is. If it's been in the car for years with loads of little pock marks plus wear marks from the wiper blades at night you'll get loads of haze that the best of blades will have trouble clearing.

Hi Colin,

Can you get these mail order? Exactly what size does a 993 need? I have Bosch ones, but they are too long and not that great at their job. I would like to try the Champion ones. Thanks.

yes I found the wipers on my 993 to be a serious problem. 996 is better but still not brilliant.

It's interesting that the PIAA site lists both wipers for a 993 (and all 911's by the look of it) as 22", when originals are nearer 15" and 17" !!! May end up slapping a few pedestrians at the length!
