Hi,
a friend has asked me if I know any ISPs that offer cheap dial up (local rate calls would be ok without monthly subscription)? that can be accessed over a Telewest phone line. I'm totally out of touch with dial-up these days so have no idea. Any suggestions are appreciated

cheers

There are loads of completely free dialup ISP's

Just google for free dial-up ISP

I used one for a couple of weeks whilst I was waiting for the DSL to be activated.

I guess email might be advantageous but since it's really just to trial out the interweb probably not essential because broadband might be an option in the future. One of the reasons for asking was that apparently Tesco.net dialup is only available over a BT line so I didn't know if there would be restrictions on Telewest.

Tesco DSL may only be available via a BT line but you should be able to dialup a dialup from anything, cable, bt, international, mobile etc.
