Just received my renewal quote and LV has increased it by 80%
No claims made, details exactly the same as last.

I challenged them and their reply was: well, our under writers have put up their prices for cat. 20 cars.. UNBELIEVABLE

Anyone else experienced this recently and any advise where to go? I'm certainly not going to stay put without a fight..

Mine went up from 750 to 1020 but I put that down to the 31.5k claim.

Blimey bebs. That sucks!

You never drive above 20mph as well... didn't you tell them that?

Seriously, try Jeremy at Pace Ward. He insures a load of the Porsche guys on Stuttgartnines so might be able to help you out.

80% is nuts, there is no way they can justify that sort of increase.... just walk away - no customers, then it doesn't matter how much they charge, they'll be out of business...... unbelievable....

You may want to try Stuart Eadon at First Point on 01604 499799 - they specialise at higher end, gave me very competitively priced cover on my 4200 of £835... they may be able to help

I was with LV on a couple of runabouts, 98 Punto and 05 Jazz...until the renewal quote came! They wanted £1800 , OK I am 24, 0 ncb, SP30 28 day ban but the Punto and Jazz are both 1.2 FFS and the ban was in another car. Switched to Tesco and saved about £900!!!!! LV must just be trying their luck with existing customers, not impressed at all

Changed from L&V this year too following a similar hike. Now with Adrian Flux.

Yup. Same thing happened to me on the 456 about a month ago Brian. L&V doubled the premium and were even late with the reminder (after insurance had expired). I was spitting feathers. Now arranged through Adrian Flux (with Groupama) and significantly cheaper than last years' premium to boot. They did the same thing on my house insurance too- premium half what I was being quoted with the previous insurer.

This behaviour goes in cycles. There was a time when Footman James were the cheapest by far (2000-2002), then Classic Line (2002-2003), then L&V (2003-2004). I think these guys keep going with competitive quotes until something sqeaks, then revert to big margins and hope that a significant number of policy holders stay.

Kevin,

Thanks for the tip. Adrian Flux did themselves proud. Same as LV last year i.e.
£800 less than LV's renewal

Cheers

For any High Net Worth guys, Academy Insurance Brokers, Reading do a policy with Zurich Insurance that covers a friend of mine (3 properties, Art, F40, F430, P997, X5, 120d, Superlight R, Cayman S, Morgan 2+2) for about 10K all in.
