My company has now a situation where we have at least ten to fifteen old pc and monitors etc., which we need to get shot of. Virtually all are working and formatted with Win 95 and Office 97 installed.

What we thought was to sell them to staff, but we then heard that there are companies who go round buying the old pc's off companies, and we decided this would be the best bet.

Anybody know who does this?

I do not know about buying, but there are lots of schools who would willing take them in.

I'm sure that staff will be prepared to pay more..

There are a lot of 'end of lease' computer auctions around. And stuff goes very cheaply.

They are Dell GXa's and GX1's; P2's 233/300/400's with 64mb of ram and 4Gb drives.

They fly once I rebuild them, and they nearly all have integrated 100Mbs NIC's, which are ideal for networking.

Any takers?

Not sure, it's up to the bean counters, but I would say...about £100 each ish? maybe?

The licenses are worth more than the pc's I believe...

Thought as much.

Just like me trying to convince my girlfriend that although BT had sent her the instuctions saying that her pc will 'just work' (dial up to the internet using one of their packages) when she puts the supplied cd in, it wouldn't work until she puts a modem cable from the telephone point into the pc.

'But they say it will just work';
'No, it wont unless you have the cable';
'But they said it would just work';
nnnnggggghhhh....

This goes on for a while until I explode and have to resort to the proper technical explanation of how the internet 'works'...
