Market for 968's

There seem to be loads of 968's for sale at the moment including cab's which used to be rare as rocking horse poo. The price is collapsing too by the look of it pushed no doubt by the 2nd hand boxter market. So the question is how much should I be asking for my Midnight blue, grey leather, 1993, 968 tip cab. in very good nick with 57 k miles on it if Im keen to sell soonish and how long is that piece of string BTW.
The tricky thing is, the price that similar cars are up for on autotrader is not necessarily indicative of how much they are selling for (if they are selling at all). I always say that you have to be lucky with these cars (even more so with tip cabs) that the right buyer is looking when you are selling. If you want a quick sale, you have to be very lucky or be asking a very low price. Having said that, if someone is in the market for a tip cab, then a low mileage one will always appeal and will fetch good money. I would ask £11,750 and see what happens.

Sure about what? That prices are collapsing? Yep. The price range for apparently similar cars has become stretched somewhat - a sure sign that the poorer ones (in spec or condition) are struggling to sell and that asking prices are being lowered. This does have an effect on values of better cars, but the effect is damped a little. How many RHD 968's are available below £10k now? There were almost none a year ago. It was bound to happen, with Boxster prices dropping into the teens and earlier 911's at tempting money now.
You describe that £14k car as good but nothing special - I reckon the fact that it was in good nick makes it special. Without going around and checking out a load of cars for sale, its hard to tell how condition affects price, but it was true 3 years ago when I was buying, that a lot of cars out there are not very nice. The guy who bought that may have looked at lots of £12k sheds, so when he saw that was a good car, thought it worth the extra money. Or you can just be lucky. The guy who bought mine hadn't really looked at any others and offered the asking price. He was the only buyer who came to see it too.

i currently have a 968 clubsport for sale at £13995 which is a 93 car with 64k miles, do you think this is overpriced, it is in very good condition but have not been able to sell it yet?

Does it have the M030 option ?

This 968 sport won region 17 concours: 2005, runner up in 2004 and 2003 has 73000 miles, fpsh, a/c, e/w s/r e/m raido/cd 4 new bridgestones complete new exhaust, has just been serviced,and new mot.This car is well known by region 17 members and porsche Bournemouth. Also previously owned by other region member. Good history file , lots of bills mot's etc. superb cond reduced price of £12500 ono

Sold my 968CS, RHD Riviera Blue, 50k miles, full M030, 1/2 cage, schroth harnesses, charley billet wishbones, solid caster blocks and adjustable billet strut top mounts in May/June after a 6 to 8 week period of no interest for £14,500. Purchaser was the only guy to see the car. Otherwise no interest at all. I reckon you should try for £12995 and see what happens.
BTW have you sold the GT2 yet?

Mike, It depends how much of a rush you are in. I can see it selling for that price - it seems like a decent original example with lowish miles so someone will want it at that price eventually. A lot of CS's have been heavily modified which (perhaps wrongly) puts a few buyers off. My 94 Sport with 45k miles went two months ago for £15.5k. It took about three weeks for anyone to actually be serious enough to come and see it, and that buyer took it. My advice is to be patient if you can.
If your car's in good nick I think your asking price is very fair. The tips seem to go for about £2k less, but if your car was a manual I'd expect it to make £13k so your price is about right.
How long you have to wait for a buyer is anyone's guess - 968s are getting rare now so the market is pretty small. Don't discount ebay as an option - you have to keep your wits about you but I sold a 968 on there last year having had no luck anywhere else.

thanks guys i will be patient on the 968, apologies for the delay but decided to eat some dodgy chicken and have been consigned to bed since!
if i die of asian bird flue i will put up my cars for a raffle and then someone else can enjoy them!
on a serious note have had only 1 call re the gt2 and didnt seem very serious
so go on someone buy it as an early xmas pressie for themselves
