BG junior is ten, and he's been spending a lot of time in his own virtual world on the internet in a place called 'Habbo Hotel'. Several of his real world friends have personas in there, and he has made lots of new virtual friends too. So he has a character that he has built up over several months, and hes done many things in this little world, he's got some nice clobber, got himself a nice place and furnished it with some cool stuff (although I never did get the 'Queen Mum' portrait on the wall of his pad). Anyway, he's logged on today, and some git has hacked into his character and erased it and everything he owns (worst of it is, un-be-known to me, he had been using his phone credit to buy stuff too, which we soon put a stop to when discovered).

He is so upset, it's like his dogs died, or he's been murdered. Life is cruel eh?

Dammit, that's rough.

It could have been worse, I guess.

But that's bugger all comfort to a 10 year old.

I won't let my 9 year old spend any significant time on the interweb, but then again I'm just a heartless bastard.

Cheers

Pat

Zoe and Kayleigh both go on habbo hotel as well, i've just checked with them and they don't use there phone credit, thanks for that.

Zoe says: never give away your password, email address or even date of birth because its a scam and they can take over your account with any of this information plus never register to any website that say free habbo credits because they can hack into your account.

Dougie back now hope what Zoe said helps.

I know how he feels, when I used to play The Sims you would build up a family over a couple of weeks, mum, dad & kids then when your not looking the light in the kitchen goes out just as the dishwasher packs up and there is water all over the floor. You guessed it you look back at the screen as the dad is standing in a puddle of water fixing the light....fizzzzz.....fizzzz. oops no more dad and the mum and kids are crying.

Silly but true

i may be 32 but occasionally to relax in the evening i play online games. the one that i put many hours into 2 years ago (I mean many eg 8+ hours a day and that was after an 8 hour day at work), for weeks at a time was Star Wars Galaxies. You build your own character, build up skills, build cash, and just generally put alot of work into it.

i've heard of people who've had their accounts hacked and they are totally mortified and if someone did that to my character i would be heartbroken from losing so much hard work.

he really does get my sympathy for losing a character, hopefully he can contact the game admins and see if they can roll back the character.

Anyone remember Johnny Vegas when he was on Room 101? telling the story about his addiction to a place called 'Beauties Castle'. That had me in stitches.

Yeah, it's a p155er. Just the other night I took out 4 Me109s and was after a 5th when I got shot up. Lost the elevator, landing gear, the works. Managed to crashland but the git came back and shot me up before I could get out.

Just watch it, 'white_tiger', I'll be back...

We were once asked to build a site based on that hotel. Turned out to be a bloody kid (who strung us along, wasted hours of company time ) ...

Write a letter to the MD, after finding out who he is. He may - if he is a nice understanding bloke who suspects you are genuine - sort things out for you. Its worth writing the letter imho.

Same thing has happened twice to the junior shark.

He thought it was a mate playing tricks!!

He doesn't frequent the site any more as we got nowhere.

I can't help thinking he should try a new game called 'Getting out a bit and playing on your bike' etc.

Thats a bum deal, BG.

Look at it this way though. When junior grows up and gets his house and contents robbed, it won't be such a shock.

Maybe all kids need this to happen to introduce them to the real world.

......................................................................

Im going to hire my life out to anyone willing to virtually 'live' it for me.
For just £500/month i will strap web cam's to my forehead and hands and shoulders and allow the lucky virtual 'me' to guide my every move by commands sent via a Heads up display i will be wearing.

Who is up first??????

My son still has. Bought it out in Singapore last year, where they are still very popular. They seem to be making a come-back over here now too. I think my son has some sort of record as one of his lived to a virtual age of 58 or something.
