I have 2 AVI files that I'd like to stitch together on my Mac.

Does anyone know of a tool to do this? I've to QTpro and Final Cut, and I know these tools can do this, but I don't want to have to re-encode the file and get the resulting loss in quality, I just want to attach the video data together...

Thanks

Dunno about on the mac, but if you can stick them on a PC you can use

copy /b file1.avi+file2.avi destinationfilename.avi

Surely avi files have header info, so you can't just concatenate them together like that? What you'd end up with is a file "destinationfilename.avi" which is the size of file1.avi+file2.avi but only shows the actual contents of file1.avi.

Well it worked when I did it with six clips. They might have been mpg's though if it makes a difference.

It probably does make a difference, AVI is just a wrapper format that usually actualy contains mpeg data. There's a chance it could work though, if the player is good at handling 'corrupt' files?

You can get joiners such as 'Easy Video Joiner'. I have joined a lot of mine by downloading a free version off the net. However, you have to pay to use it after 7 days. If you know where there are free versions, let me know. It does AVi, MPEG, WMV etc

I use this: www.boilsoft.com/avi-mpeg-rm-joiner.html

It works faultlessly.
