I have got a domestic DVD-Audio player, but it doesn't like some of my DVD-A discs and refuses to play them (I think it needs a f/w upgrade). In light of the fact that I rarely turn the bloody thing on anyway as I spend most my time working at my PC, is there any DVD-A playback software available for Windows XP...? I had a good Google about last weekend but came up with the sum total of Jacqueline Shytte.

If it's free, or just a CODEC plug in for Media Player, so much the better.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for but have a look here:

One of the K-Lite codec packs may work for you.

Most DVD ROM's won't be able to read DVD-A's or SACD's. There seems very little interest in playing these formats on a PC as most people have crappy plastic speakers on them so you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

However if yours does then WinDVD or PowerDVD version 6 will be able to decode them.

It seems to be able to read the disc OK but just can't do anything with it. I do have PowerDVD but it's an earlier version so perhaps I should upgrade. My drive is a Philips but is running BenQ firmware. All formats including DL so perhaps it''s good to read DVD-A.

Thanks chaps, I'll see what I can find.
