Intruder in my garage.
Discussion
I have just been into my garage, basically just to check on my Chim as i haven't been in it for nearly a week
when i got in there the roof was covered (and i mean COVERED)in hair, cat's, dog's, foxes or whatever but it was ALL over the roof
i had to get the hoover out to hoover the roof.
I gave the car a quick wipeover (will wash and polish tommorrow) ready for Sunday (as there was paw prints over the bodywork) have now put my car cover over it aswell.

there is a family of pigeons known as the Houdini line. it kept getting out of the loft.
How did it do that without all the others going with it?

no one is quite sure. hence the name Houdini.
every year i have one that gets out if the sputnik trap.
when they land they drop through a hole in to the (pigeon)loft. the hole is at an angle and height that they cant get back out, but one always manages to figure out a way.
Beware of mice, also. If you take your P&J off the road for the winter, they regard it as a nice comfy safe place to live. In my case, I had to vacuum about 10lbs of bird seed (stored in the same garage) out of the engine compartment of my Cossie which the mice had stashed away for a rainy day. Now I place a mouse trap by each wheel.

Yeah, I've been spotting mice the last couple of weeks. Might have to get some traps on the quiet (Julie's not keen, bloody hard luck
)... but as we live next to a field, could be an uphill battle.I used to work in pest control and several times heard of mice nesting in the engine cpmpartment of cars parked in garages, resulting in ruined wiring looms(they need to gnaw constantly).
If you can get a pencil under a door a mouse can also get through. Fit bristle type draght excluder to the base.
The rubber seal type will not work, they don't like the bristles on their whiskers.
Fill any other hole with cement, checking once it's dry that they didn't go through it before it went hard.
Traps are usually not very effective.
Get some poison from an animal food place (cheaper than DIY shop), and place around wall/floor junctions. A single garage would need about 8 of these, small quantities, about a tablespoon full. Check and top up every 3/4 days until activity stops. If any risk of children or non target animals have access get some bits of plastic gutter downpipe about 1' long and put bait inside a small freezer bag. The mice will chew through it.
Once they have a lethal dose which is accomplished after several feeds, the simply die in their sleep, take 3/4 day from ingesting lethal dose.
A mouse has a litter of between 4-16 young, females are sexually mature after 7/8 weeks, the gestation period is 3 weeks.
Now you don't want that lot anywhere near you P&J do you?
Hope this advice is usefull to someone

Nothing beats my 'Little Nipper' mousetrap. Old fashioned but effective.
1 second from instant death. Much more rewarding when you have the body.
Keeps my jackdaws well fed !
