1st Test drive

Finally - test drove my first cerb yesterday (the purple one at Dream Machines) Drove 120 mile round trip to get there and when I did someone else was out in it but when it came back into the car park I heard it before seeing it. the roads were wet so was told to go easy but it was still very memorable! Fortunately the guy before me didn’t get the trade in he needed for his car (although mine wasn’t much better) so it is available. Need to finalise a price for my Jeep (if anyone’s interested??) but also had another question. what are the dimensions of the cerbra as I have looked a garage to store then car in and it would be helpful to know the car is going to fit before I rent it.

Not sure on the width but it better be wide because of the doors. You will find the size is mentioned in the search area of PH. I shall have a quick look.

Glad that you liked my car

I kept it in a standard size garage with a upvc strip along the wall to look after the paintwork on the drivers door.
The trick is to wind the window down to get in and out if possible.....

I noticed a couple of marks on the A frame - the guys at DM reckoned it was because the doors were opened with a flat battery - does that make sence?

By the way going back down on Saturday - a deal may be done!!

Gareth, my car also has a few marks on the A pillar...., from exactley the same thing. Previous owner said it was advisable to keep a window open a little bit, just in case the battery goes flat (whilst in the garage).

Am i being a n00b here-- could someone explain?

what would marks have to do with using the secret entry route in the case of a flat battery?

If you mean chips on the A-pillar then they're usually from someone slamming the door with the window fully up, only then realising it doesn't fit! Virtually every Cerb I've seen has a few - usually more on the passenger side from unwarned passengers with wobbly knees! As the previous poster said, if the car had a flat then the "secret" entry system leaves no marks at all... having said that, if they then forced the doors it's concievable that it chipped the pillar on opening...

Don't the windows drop aotomatically on all cars so that when you open the door you can only shut it in the dropped position?? I'm probably having an early morning blonde moment...

Yup they do, but not if you have a flat battery...

Of course! It was the bit about the passenger side being more damaged. If the battery is flat, why would passengers be opening doors etc? The bonnet release is on the drivers side. Possibly a mid afternoon blonde moment now.........

The marks were there when I bought it.... apparently a feature of Cerb ownership and a flat battery according to the seller!.

Good luck tomorrow - watch out if it is snowing!.

ps the girlfriend asked whether I could keep it as I'm due to 'meet the parents' soon.....(I hope that the cerb wasn't the only thing that she saw in me!).
