Presumably you've got rid of the lucas / mechanical dizzy and gone for something more forced-induction friendly on your car? the system you've gone for will pretty much dictate who you take it to as there are experts in each ECU system ..

Just saw that your car is supercharged.......drools into his beans on toast...could you explain more info please...how......what...who put it in.....how much...reliability....power.. (oh I should have asked that one first)

R&P Woods in Jesmond used to have one, you could try them, used to be Turbo Technics agents too, so they know what they're doing with modified motors......or so rumour had it! I think they're may be one over near Whitley Bay also, but they may only do bikes.

hi guys.....thanks for all your input and replies..cant do the pic thing at mo,but will try to get some on soon.as for a couple of your questions;as the basic 4lt is a low compression engine,it can,alledgedly i hasten to add,run a chrager with relatively low boost without too much modification.However...as the car i had already had a slightly smoking engine(realising there was future work to do)i threw caution to the wind and bolted one on.The charger was mde to fit a 4lt range rover so went on no probs.It increased acceleration quite dramatically and tons of torque from low down the rev range.after 6000 miles or so and the smoke getting gradually worse,only visible when slowing down/changing down for junctions etc she eventually blew a piston while err...out for a qiuet run on a suday with a pack of bikers.So normal day to day stuff was very reliable and no real difference to mpg..she just got you there a bit quicker than normal!!Dead piston which friends reckon COULD of had a cracked ring prior to me getting the car,and the charger would of accelerated its demise,since replaced,along with all gaskets,oil seals and that strange cam cover gasketty thing,so now taking it easy for 500 miles or so but really need to ensure fuelling/timing right before next track day!!! will make some enquiries and let ya'll know.no pinking or lumpy bits at mo...smooth as gary glitter likes them.
