As a very high mileage driver (c.40k miles per year) the thought of driving something like a Ferrari or Lambo for that sort of annual mileage has always intrigued me.

Anyone on here do a serious amount of annual mileage (18k+ per annum) in their Ferrari/Maserati/Lamborghini?

If so, how are the running costs and reliability?

I've done just over 6K in the first three months of ownership in my 360. Only servicing costs so far as a new pair of rears. I'm hoping it doesn't need to see a workshop until spring.

12k in 5 months in my 3200 with no real problems, the car had only done 11k in three years when I bought it so it did suffer from a few "standing idle too long" problems but nothing serious, just before it went in for it's 2nd service I took it to Bruntingthorpe and gave it to a guy who races and services Aston Martins in Shoeburyness to see what he could do with it and even his enthusiastic driving (and my ham fisted attempts to emulate him) did not cause any problems so it does seem to be true that the more you use them the better they run.

3200 GT manual - 8000 miles in three and a half months and loving every one of them! Costs for fuel approx £60 for 300 miles. I got a nail in a tyre so had to change the rears but decided to change them all cost approx £600 with alignment. Oil level sensor, clutch failure and battery - replaced under warranty. Today (if it stays dry) it's having a machine polish and then diamondbrite treatment. The car feels better the more it is driven and loves a good long run.

I did 17K in a 550 in a year followed by 21K in another 550 the following years and 18K in a 360 F1 the year after.... just regular servicing and tyres needed (about £3k a year), only porblem was the 360 stone chipped badly and needed a respray on the nose, nothing else really.

Anjum would also have good information, as he's done some serious mileage in various cars, especially 550M and Diablo .....

Have done 23000 in the Murcielago in a year.if you read the next issue of evo due out this week, you will see how much it cost. Bloody frightening but worth it all the same

I don't think the high milage cars will give problems. In my experience they are less likely to cause problems that the cars that never go out. The problem will inevitably be servicing costs and worst of all massive depreciation.

Was reading in an oldish (circ 2001) edition of Classic & Sportscar a feature on Lamborghini. A guy from Sant Agata Classics (as far as I recall)gives his say and he says he has done 270,000 miles (yes 270k) in a Diablo. The clutch has lasted over 200k.
Quite amazing.
