i particularly like the second one.

so is this thread gonna be the "what i took this weekend" thread?
if so i would like to submit these of my new house (they are my first real attempts with a decent camera and i managed to end up with loads of pics that are nearly good but need some photoshopping)

constructive criticism would be very welcome.

So you live on a railway line? There must be some H&S issues there

Like the first one although the background is a bit cluttered.

Where's Mr Sunshine on the others? With out it I think they look a bit dull and lifeless.

Whats that in the foreground of the last one... bags of rubbish? I would have used the wooden jetties/pebbles by the water.

ok, so that is my horse and the other one is of my dogs, but the buildings are my new house. i cant seem to get the light right so that it looks good, maybe it will be better in the summer.

i definitley agree that the background of the house is a bit annoying, i didnt notice that when i took it.
with regards to the sunshine: unfortunately i only had 2 days to take pics and the sun was not feeling very kind to me.

the foreground of the last one is the sea wall, by dawlish beach.

And now for soemthing completely different! A sensible comment or three from Beano.

Actually the line picture is good, but a little distracting; perhaps it could be stronger. I feel the eye should either lead you to something at the meeting point, or otherwise into nothing. Background just a bit too fussy. The second and third images, I like. More of that please!

Of the houses and horses, a bit of levels may put back some punch. It sure is a nice building!

Horse definitely wants a clear backdrop - you might not persuade him into a studio but we want a little more of the face and a little less happening behind.

I keep going back to the seaside shot, though, and I too thought it was black sacks until about the third or fourth peek. You might be better with a bit more of that in the foreground or a bit less.

thanks for the comments beano. i wasn't too sure of the railway shot but wasn't sure what it was but i think your comments hit the nail on the head. i was pleased with the crane shots so good to hear its liked by others.

im still learning so i think things can (hopefully) only get better. i think i may start using some filters and see what i can get.

I love the top pic too, it's a shame there wasn't a brake wagon disappearing into the distance, showing a bright red light, right in the vanishing point. Unfortunately they seem to be in short supply (same as photogenic preraphaelite young ladies with auburn hair wearing floaty dresses). The recent frosty and misty weather is great for those of us who like to indulge in atmospheric photos!

I would crop it to just above the top of the rails to remove the buildings and fence, desaturate it and clone out the orangey objects on the right hand side.

The last one is very interesting imho. It really hits you, and you have to have a double/tripple take at the big black things....and then your mind wounders what, why, I dont understand and wham black..... I like it.

Taken me 2 years to get around to decorating the lounge...

You'll be wanting to work a bit quicker to get that one done in a few

Stunning looking place, enjoy it.
