What speed increase would Vmaxers say removing my rear wing would make ?

I managed 174 with it on and it's a tad big ( it's a smaller version of the wing Lotus fitted to their GT1 Esprit ). I did try to get it off but the bolts were seized.

at VMAX 9 Nadine gained 6mph be removing her wing, gaffa taping the gaps, and increasing tyre pressure. 192 before 198mph after, her wing was set fairly neutral downforce wise on the 192 run

It will be different on different cars. The Viper wing is huge, so obviously made a large difference.

I gained about 5mph from the previous VMax, which was partly due to the rear wing removal and partly due to the extremely cold temperatues ie being colder by about 20-25 degrees from the previous one. I'd guess the wing was responsible for about half the gain ie 2-3mph, as the cold air definitely made the car faster.

Bear in mind that wing removal will be more efficient for cars that are hitting their max speed ie limited by aerodynamics, rather than cars which are still accelerating hard through the timing beams.

If you look closely at the CL65 video against the R turbo you can actually see that at high speeds (170+) the R turbos rear is considerably lower than the front...i think maybe ill see about taking the rear wing off lol...or more power...

all the best

Been thinking the same myself.

According to Lotus the front splitter and rear wing on my car produces 40kg of downforce at 100 mph so not sure what it will be at 140 which I did for 7 consecutive runs on Sunday.

Its obviously a fair bit more as the car feels so planted at that speed but also runs into an aerodynamic brick wall.

I dont think the rear wing is removeable though and it may affect the cars ability to take the '747' left hand sweeper at 125 which is the most fun part of the track.

Well, I don't think I could have gone much faster, even with more runway so wing off next time is the way to go I'd say.
