After O2 kindly baring my sim card, I've been looking around at different contracts.
At the moment I don't really spend that much so would need quite a good deal on a monthly contract...plus the fact I could do with a new phone!

Found a couple that could work out ok, but was told by carphone warehouse that tarrifs change monthly. Now don't know whether the best deals will be Nov/Dec for christmas, or NY "january sales".

Anyone "in the know"?

There will be airtime sales in January but the shylocks get the money back one way or another over the 12 months...

They do change all the time and usually for the better, plus through certain companies orange will match any tarif 'out there' and give you whatever new phone you want - but I dont think you can do this through orange direct.

Friend of mine runs one of these companies and has told me to change in january (mine runs out in 2 weeks time) I can get him to call you in Jan if you want?

Have mobile companies stopped doing good offers? I've NEVER paid for a phone upgrade and normally had the latest Nokia.

Went into Vodafone yesterday and they wanted £100 to upgrade and I'm spending between £60 and £100 a month with them.

Ive been looking around the net for good deals, and there dont seem to be many at all at the moment! the best i found in terms of contract deals, seemed to be with Vodaphone on their online deals. Their contracts start at £16 a month (unless you go on one of their half price line rental deals). The only other good deals seem to be with tmobile, but they tend to be on their u-fix packages, or on their half price line rental deals. They're the only real deals happening on contracts under £20 a month that ive found so far. The deals on the virgin contracts seem really poor, but their bundle packages arent too bad at all, but this would mean you'd need to pay for your new phone from them.

I would also say its always worth dealing direct with the network, as then you effectively arent dealing with a middle-man.

The only thing im having trouble with, is trying to find a half decent phone! Nokia 6230i seems to have a lot of the spec im after, but i get the feeling they will be replacing the phone shortly with something spec'd even better! (better screen, and better camera) im currently looking at the Motorola L7 SLVR, Motorola RAZR V3i, and V3x when they're released.

Phone wise I was advised on the Samsung E710 or E530 as being good ones. Looked at the Nokia 6230i, nice but quite chunky compared to the others and I always have it in my pocket!
I was suprised at how big the RAZR is. I know its flat but wouldn't fit in most of my pockets!!
