More GT3RS handling issues....for ROAD use
Discussion
Carrying on from my last thread about the RS's handling I thought I'd update you guys. I took the RS out on Sunday, weather was clear and thought I'd have a play. Oh dear.
I'll conceed the following:
1. the roads were "greasy"
2. it was VERY cold
3. I didn't check the tyre pressures (too lazy/stupid)
4. and just to stop the inevitable comment, you may well consider me a crap driver. FINE.
BUT even if you factor in my potential hamfisted-ness, the car was all over the place. Loads of wheelspin, understeer AND oversteer (NOT power oversteer) and ABS kicking in EVERYWHERE! The oddest thing was that trail braking was a complete NO-NO.. not unless you like going into a corner arse-end first. The rear end was absolutely horrible on the brakes whether you were in a straight line or not. (in corners it was downright scary).
Drove it for a bit and thought "
this, I'm going home" and parked it.
The Dunlop SSRs are going into the bin. They're rubbish (although they do improve with temperature). I'm also sure that their pressures are all wrong.
The car MUST have a setup done (as I'm now convinced that Porsche Reading didn't set the cars geometry up correctly) and I'm going for a full ROAD setup until trackday time next year (as the road is the only place the car is going to see until April). The front end needs to be made more compliant otherwise the ABS kicks in at the merest "sight" of a bump and I don't know what they're going to do about the rear - it lacks the planted feel my MK2 GT3 had so that needs to be corrected too. This waywardness of this rear needs to be sorted . Driver instruction also
On my way to the tyre shop I'll have to drive on these Dunlops
- what pressures should they be running (I want neutral handling please for ROAD use).

Store the tyres till summer as they are meant to be fine on track, and get a geo done I guess? I had mine out on Sat on the way to a Bedford trackday and whilst it was sub zero at points of my journey up the car felt fine, although braking distances were extended on frosty areas. Thats on the standard fit Corsa Systems.
I actually got a geo sheet with my car from East London when I bought it showing they had reset to factory defaults. I have a suspicion you have a hard core track geo to go with those tyres on your car

Murcielago Boy,
I owned a GT3RS RED white cage, and sold it to a Ferrari Main dealer in the South.
My car had Dunlop SSR tyres fitted and I had the car set up for mainly track use,(ie. big cambers, and hard anti roll bars etc) however I only did two track days in the year I owned it.
Unless you get the car into a specialist for full Road suspension set up and remove the SSR's, she will continue to be nasty on the road!!
Does this sound like the same car??
If it is I still have the original Pirreli's, want to swap for some SSR's??
