Thought I had to post this one as prob one of the worst I have recieved....be aware!!!

DEAR FRIEND,

My name is Mr.OPOKU ASARE 40 years of age I am compelled to contact you as
result of a lifetime business relationship I wished to establish with you
honorable self. I am a God fearing gentleman of the confidence that God will
certainly create an enabling environment in our midst through which his name
will be glorified.

I am the Eastern regional branch manager of the SG-SSB Internatioanl Bank Of
Ghana. I am a Christian. I write you this letter in good faith believing
both of us will work with one accord for the realization of this project.. I
am in control of the sum of Two million, Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand US
Dollars ($2,850,000.00) that was an excess of profit made by our Eastern
region branch office in the last quarters of the year 2004.

Due to the present political position of this country, I have carefully
placed the afore said fund in an Escrow Call Deposit Account and did not
declare this to my head office, Can I really trust you to hold this money
for me until I arrive your country and pick it up myself? This is where the
problem lies. You will be entitled to 35% of the total money as your
commission if you will be human enough to work with me.. If you accept my
offer you can contact me immediately via my personal email address
opokuasare@myway.com

All I need is your formidable current account where the money will be moved
accordingly. I will discretely give you all the information concerning the
account and the deposit so that you can apply to my headquarters directly
for the re-location of the money. There is practically no risk involved; it
will be a bank-to-bank transfer. I hope you understand my situation.

Thank you and God bless.

Very truly yours,

Mr. OPOKU ASARE
Do people realy fall for this!!!

I still can't believe that people actually even read them. I only ever read them on PH in case someone's unearthed some new and hilarious ploy. Anything I get in my inbox is deleted without being read.

niave question but if all they have is a bank account number what can they do, i understood that they could put money in but not get anything out with that level of detail.

Let's face it whenever you write a check to someone you give them bank address, sort code and account number.

NM its all to do with Clearing times they send you an escrow echeque which looks like it has cleared in your bank they then ask you for a small amount to cover admit say £3k you send it cause you think you have cleared funds then your echeque bounces.they have your cash..something like that.

Nothing much I don't thing. The scam works by a series of unfortunate snags coming up and all you have to do is tranfer the guy a bit of money to help as he can't access the funds yet. But don't worry, as soon as everything is sorted you will still get your cut, etc etc.

Set up a false email address and leave it in some guest books. Do a google search for guyman or guyman@mugu.com. The scammers use these email addresses to mark guest books that have been harvested. Add your false email to the list and you'll get loads. Don't use your own email and don't email them from a fixed IP PC and you can have hours of fun winding them up

I reckon you could be on to a winner here.

He claims to be a good Christian.

Remind him of the 8th Commandment "thou shalt not steal" and tell he'd best just give you the whole lot, otherwise he'll be destined to burn in Hell's fire for all eternity.
