I know the lady who won the Z4 roadster (I think she said she won it on Capital Radio, did anyone here listen to the show?)... The lucky girl also won a £7k holiday :dribble: To win, she was asked who lives at number 11 downing street

The car is worth 25k, half leather, 17 alloys, brand new, 50 miles on the clock etc.

She wants to sell it, as she'd rather have the money and doesnt actually need a new car. She wants a quick sale, and is obviously willing to knock thousand(s) off the retail price, so I said Id stick it in the PH classifieds for her. Before I do, I wanted to ask...

Would you buy a brand new car privately and save a few £k, or would you rather buy directly from a dealer?

If it was the right spec, and with a proper mnfr warranty, and the price was right.

I'd guess 2-3k off the car is about right. What do you reckon?

If I was buying, a bit more.
If I was selling, a bit less.

It will still have the warranty, so 'yes'. If it's not registered yet, you could even be the first owner.

I would expect more discount than that.

My mum won a £6000 conservatory on the radio once for knowing what fruit was also known as a "love apple".

We didn't have anywhere to put it so ending up selling it on for £2500. It wouldn't go for more than that (someone really got a bargain!)

1) I'd sell the thirteen spare alloys first
2) Is the holiday part of the deal
3) Z4, what type of TVR is that?

I think you'll get offered 20-21k at this time of year. Snow coming etc. Phone round a few BMW dealers. Infact, if she's picking it up from a dealer, try them there and then before it's driven.
Or you could put 5,000 miles on it and sell in summer and you'll get the same.

That's more than three entire sets of spare wheels.

Did they know it was going to be a woman that won it?

Thats quite a loss! Better than nothing though (you both got a good deal)

Id guess a dealer wouldnt offer more than 18k. Out of interest I'll post their offer when I find out. And I think she was going to take delivery this afternoon, so its probably hers already

If it had been a 330i in dark metallic grey I'd have been tempted.

I am almost ashamed to admit it on PH, but I was thinking exactly the same thing.

My old 328 is getting a bit long in the tooth.

I need to banish such thoughts and concentrate on looking for a really silly car.

Cheers

But you would have lost.

Didn't Tony do a swap with his mate Gordon and move into number 11 cos it was bigger?

Please do.

Tonight's pleasure is a Bethany 2002 Barossa, and rather smooth it is too.

Though at 14.5%, perhaps a whole bottle is a touch too indulgant for one, so why don't you pop round?

Cheers

Maybe I'm imagining it, but I'm sure that I read it somewhere.

No doubt someone sober will pass by and clear it up....
