I keep getting an error when running itunes.

ERROR MESSAGE:

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive.
CANCEL , TRY AGAIN , CONTINUE

(none of the buttons on the error message respond and only a re-boot removes the error msg.

I know there was a recent problem with a version 6.0 of itunes so I downloaded the latest version.
I keep getting the same error message every time I try a run itunes. The application never fully runs, just gives off the error. I've unistalled and re-installed a few times, but nothing shifts it. I've run anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, but they don't find any errors.

Any idea how I remove this and get itunes working?

uninstall ITunes and Go to Apple.com/itunes and download the latest version of ITunes. That MAY fix it

Could it be that it is looking for a music CD in the drive to rip music from?

I update itunes(PC version) every time a newer version has come out, they have all worked perfectly.

I've tried that quite a few times, to no avail. I'm wondering if it's a registry problem?

Is your ipod set up as as a disk drive? There may be a conflict with the drive letter assigned to it and a drive on your machine (removeable or otherwise). If it is, try changing the ipod drive letter to something else. There is a microsoft technote about this somewhere on the kbase. And I seem to remember Quicktime causes some conflict issues as well with ipods, so try removing that from your startup apps (if it's there).

Have you added MP3s from a data CD? If so, itunes might still be looking back for that disk, especially if you are in the 'recently added' playlist.

Or are you saying that itunes won't start at all? I've found some of the earlier incarnations of itunes to be troublesome - to the extent that they wouldn't run at all. I ended up uninstalling it and installing an older version which I (fortunately) had to hand.

Cheers, sounds like a drive letter issue with a USB stick.
Will give that a try tonight.
