OK... I'm seriously knobbed off with the other "non-event" thread.....
Is anyone serious about doing this?.. If so, lets get it on!!!!!

I'm going to check out dates for early in the new year at both Thurrock and Buckmore Park.

New list:
Team=Kent, Driver=fozzi (David Foster)

Fozzi.

I would definately be up for this.

What would probably be a good idea is rather than get a list of 50 people saying yes and not getting any further ala last thread is get dates for an endurance evening at the locations you mentioned and then get 3/4 people booking a Kart, each paying the track direct and just turn up and race. Myself and pdr479 work together and would easily be able to get another 1 or 2 pher's to join us from Essex so therefore 1 Kart sorted.
If you can do the same for kent then we have a race!

Then somebody else can enter another Kart and so on... (in theory anyway!)

what do you think?

Sound like a reasonable plan... plus, I'll do some direct e-mailing through PHer profiles to those who responded to the original thread, that way all the people who got knobbed off with this non-event will know that something is finally happening.

I'll get on the case.

Buckmore Park may have better facilities and a larger track but Lakeside Karting is going to be the cheaper option.

I dont really mind which as they are both about the same distance to me. Nice to try a new track, been round Buckmore Park more times than I can remember

Been round it in ProKarts, ThunderKarts and Club100's 100cc karts. Probably raced there 4 times a year for the last 4 years plus a couple of test days.

Had a look at the Lakeside track when i was passing but not been on it. Looked very tight with not much of a straight

Can I make a suggestion and knock this on the head for the time being. For a few reasons.

This event if it comes off might be the first time some people have been in a kart and doing it this time of year would not be fun for a lot of people. I don’t care what the weather is like because im prepared for it see my profile pic. There is a problem with the lights at Buckmore Park if your racing in the dark, because they are near an airfield they cant put up enough lights to illuminate the track properly so you tend to drive some sections on instinct rather than seeing where your going and it going to be very cold

My suggestion would be to do a one off prokart race at one of the Buckmore Park endurance series when it gets a little warmer and lighter. Say two 4 man teams, 2 hour race so ½ hour track time per driver. £155 per kart, you do the math

Team names PH Kent and PH Essex, so it fits the scoreboards better. Doing prokarts would mean the teams wouldn’t be thrown in the deep end and although the two teams would be racing against each other there would be another 20+ karts to race against.

What do you think

How about we get some rough idea of numbers, a rough price at a given circuit then take deposits? A few of us can take care of it and it ties people down a bit more?

Other alternative is that we literally turn up one evening at a circuit and have a blast then maybe take it from there to organise a more formal event? Most places have open practice evenings I guess?

Ok, so...

How about if we all just sort out a day for practice/observations/note taking, with couple of swift halfs in the pub after. Then get involved with an endurance number with two teams in the spring? This would be a struggle to the bitter end... with winning team getting a logo beneath their name or summat. Serious racing/rubbing/sabotage efforts

In fact... why don't we ask ted if we can get a national karting league up? Then we can prove which county is best overall for 2006. Run the season from March to September and have a points system?

Thats got me thinking

Makes sense to me

All those in favour?
