Thermostat difference.

What is the real difference between the thermostat for the 4.0Ltr chim and the std rover 3.5Ltr. and what effect would putting the rover part in have. Asking as TVR gear no longer have the Chim part in stock.

I'm not 100% sure about the answer to yor question, but I think the TVR part is more free flowing when open i.e. it's got a bigger hole! They are also 82 degree rated (and also a 76c version) as opposed to some of the rover ones at 88 degrees.

I'm also thinking about changing my thermostat as it seems to take ages for may car to warm up. Think I may just go for a 82 degree std range rover one, its not as if overheating I would be too much of an issue at the moment! I does mean that I will have to change it for a 'proper' one in the spring though!

I ordered a new thermostat from TVR GEar last week...wanted an 882deg and they sent me a 74 deg part...phoned them back today...about 1 hr ago and they are sending me up the 82deg part with a gasket????
Said they had to order it direct from TVR...£12 roughly.

As far as i can see the TVR one has a large bore allowing more water to flow...had a look at a standerad rover one and it is nowhere near the size...

Do you think a std. 82deg Rover one would be OK though (only for the winter months) and help with the running too cool problem?

pink floyd....why dont you order from another tvr dealer...i had to ring around when i wanted one.
