Windscreen Washers

I have had a quick search but nothing....

With the current road/salt conditions I have been reminded how bad (well, on my car at least) the washer jets are. Is there/has anyone attempted to upgrade these so I get some washer fluid on my windscreen rather than nothing, followed by a couple of drips if I hold the button long enough? (it does improve, but only marginally)

I believe the design of the wipers/washer function is that you are supposed to hold the wash button down for a good few seconds before you start getting any liquid (refer to manual).

Mine are pretty good, Presume they're not blocked....., if you remove the jets from the washer hoses, is there good pressure at that point ?

Mine work well but you get the annoying 'dirty dribbles' working their way back up the screen as you are driving along after you have wiped them, neccessitating another squirt!!!

Take the tubes off of the connectors and give then a good blowing (also the one that goes back into the fluid reseviour, I'm sure you just have a bit of debris in there.

I changed my original wipers over to replacement Leven units a few months ago - a major improvement! Blades are shaped better, and water jets are actually directed on to the windscreen. Must admit they aren't cheap, but in my opinion are worth it for this time of year.

I've fitted the Leven ones. Not perfect but a great improvement on the standard fitment and much neater to look at too.

Ahh, cheers, I did look quickly at the Leven site but couldnt see anything. Will go and have another look. Thats another Xmas pressie for the Mrs to buy me ....nag nag nag, what do you want..nag nag nag. Use some imagination girl! Like I do with yours! :rantover:

Leven do them for the Chim as a pal of mine has just got some. Would these be the same for a Cerbera i wonder?

I could do with some myself - mine actually have'nt worked at all for ages!

What i have done is ditch the washer loop on the wiper and just under the bonnet i have put two twin jet noziles which i bought from Halfords (less than a fiver) and now lots of water on the screen and no dribling at all, and best of all it is neat and you can hardly see them at all. Easy to do, better and low cost, what more do you want.

Are you sure the rubber hoses haven't melted.
Mine sounded like yours do until Austec found that 95% of my water was going on the ground. After all the rubber was replaced it was fantastic.

another little trick would be to plumb another pump into the line to increase the pressure! done that before on my old mini many years ago!lol!
