i was just watching UKTV Bright Ideas
and i saw an RSPCA advert about giving them money.
so what i want to know is why don't they put the adverts on the
BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

so why don't they?

Exactly. It used to be RNLI policy that they would never advertise on the idiot box but I've seen a few recently on the UKTV-* satellite channels.

It should worry you when you are doing coursework about advertising and you don't know why the BBC don't carry adverts.

I know why BBC don't thats why you pay TV licence (sp)
but you would have thought the RSPCA could do a deal with the BBC, so they could have an advert like that because
animal welfare is important. isn't it?

Animal welfare is important, but if the BBC let the RSPCA advertise, then every other charity large and small up and down the country would quite rightly expect the same treatment.

Because the BBC has a blanket ban on advertising (unless its for their own TV progs or merchandise), you either let everyone advertise on there, or no-one.

They do - you've just missed the adverts...

They did some, frankly bloody moving, adverts with some mis-treated animals (actors I presume...)

Anyhow, tidbit of information for you:

The RSPCA gets the bulk of its money from wills left to it by people, or estates which they then use to raise capital. The RSPCA receives NO - I repeat - NO funding from the government, and any cash received is alway gratefully received. Monies received from salary deduction is great as the government adds the NI and Tax contribution to the amount you give and to RSPCA gets it all. Also many employers will match your contributions...

How do I know this? My missus's wages are paid by your grateful contributions, as she is a very very hard working Vet for the Bristol branch...

Good for her - It's always really appealled to me but I'm ashamed to say I'm too money motivated at this point.

Ain't good for me though at 2am in the morning when she gets called out to help sew up a run over cat - my sleep (and hers) suffers considerably at times when she's on call

Again, serious Q, what do you think media, or meeja if you wear roll necks and live in N1, is ?

I see films as a medium, rather than media ? Do you agree there is a difference ?
