in the Griffith. Not a pleasant sight. I am about to replace my battery and have to navigate through this mess.

Has anybody ever re-wired this plate of spaghetti to resemble anything like a sensible bunch of wires?

Am I right to be sooooo gentle with them when I move them? I'm scared witless that I might cock the whole vehicles' electrics up.

I,ve had the ECU and fuse board out loads of times. I think it's prudent to be careful cos it is a dogs breakfast, but mine's always been ok.

It's a mess alright.

Just enough loom to move it out of the way.

Just be as gentle as you can. make sure all the relays are pushed home when you refit the battery.

More importantly , mark the battery box location before you start.

Have fun!!

In the process of doing this very job now. (rewiring the fusebox and replacing the ECU ) It's a total nightmare as very few of the fuses actually seem to do what the book says they do!

Have fun - the wiring is quite difficult to physically damage, but it's easy to short things out.

Yes. In my case the mess was largely due to the fitment of various stereos and alarms with the associated hacking and slashing of the original loom. Also a couple of fastners which originally secured the loom to the firewall had come adrift so the whole lot hung down. If you work methodically and tape up loose bits of loom to neaten things up you can improve it dramatically. Worth checking the security of any alarm/immobiliser connections while you're down there.

I couldn't get the fusebox very far out as the the wiring behind it was gripped by the conduit it emerges from. To remove the wiring from the box would take a braver man than me - but didn't seem remotely necessary in my case.

i would defanatley leave the fuse box alone, when changing my battery for the 1st time out of now 3, i accidentley dragged the fuse box out as well, this should have been bolted in place but was not on mine, this meant 30 minutes in an awkward position resulting in cramp just trying to get the loom for the fuse box back in,and i'm only pushing mid 30's
