European long-term insurance...Help

I am moving to Germany in the next two weeks with my Cerb (AJP 4.2). Now as the nice German officials aren't too keen on a de-catted AJP I understand that I am going to need to keep it UK registered and MOT'd etc etc.

So I have called every insurer / broker that I can find and the response is: Max 90 days in europe (180 from Liverpool Vict), Only valid for permenant UK residents. So that is me and my woman uninsured...

The German insurers I have spoken to aren't keen as the vehicle is going to remain UK registered. British Forces insurers won't help as I don't have a BFPO address as I am a civi.

So has anyone done this and am I just missing a trick? Is there an insurer that does this sort of thing?

There are only two that I know one is Stewartcollins who will give you a quote based on where you stay and the other is A1 who are advertised in Sprint although they require the car to come back to UK every 3 months.

Both of these insurances are quiet expensive approximatly two to three times the price of normal insurance although compairable with other motor insurance in mainland Europe.

IIRC Norwich Union's policy wording is unlimited in the number of days the car can be in Europe in any one year, but on the condition that it is not out of the UK for any more than 90 days at a time.

I guess looking at the above reply A1 might use NU, perhaps it's worth giving them a call...
