He carried out a thourough inspection of my car prior to me parting with my cash. The report he produced was excellent and gave me the confidence to buy. For a bit extra he'll source a car to your specification too.
When it was time to sell my V8S I very quickly had a buyer, but I had also phoned Rob to let him know it was for sale. He remembered the car and said he had possible buyers waiting.
Very useful if you have any doubts about your own confidence to spot a potential 'problem' car, or even if you don't fancy travelling all over the country looking at cars which you don't buy.

Worth every penny he charges....
Found me the perfect S, never ever let me down, was EXACTLY how he said it would be.
Negotiated the price for me, drove me 200 miles to collect it
Looked at several cars for me until I found the right one.
If you are asking the question, I suspect your like me and need some assistance, I've been attending a car restoration course for 3 years and still found his service really useful
If you'd like to give me a call please do

Where's the car?, IMHO an easier method is to drive to an independent TVR dealers and get it checked there
Blimey Colin, I wish you would just come out with it instead of sitting on the fence
I was actually being very diplomatic,Teds rules bar me from saying more

The report definitely was very good and ran to a couple of pages including an HPI check. I can't complain about the inspection done by Peninsula when I bought Pete's car (cos it was done very cheaply), but the report wasn't as exhaustive in details, though was exhaustive in the checks they did. So a good independent is worth a look to if you can get the car there.
I looked at several V8S's and eventually found one which I thought was good. I considered getting an AA/RAC inspection done but decided to use Rob Ingleby who was comparable on price but obviously has a lot of TVR experience. In his report Rob pointed out a couple of minor problems which I hadn't noticed but other than that he confirmed that I had found a good car. Rob road tested the car and gave an opinion on performance, braking, oil pressure and water temperature. It gave a lot of peace of mind as a TVR novice to know that a TVR expert found the car to be good.
I have not regretted buying the car or having it inspected by Rob.

Have to agree with Dark Matter - Rob did just what it said on the box - thourough written report, road test, faults, HPI etc and full and fair assesment of the vehicle will definately be using his services on any future TIV purchases.

I'd be interested in how much does this guy charges.... and what happens if the car he recomends eventually turns into a right dog of a car...does he give refunds. ![]()
Paul.
He has quoted me £200 for an inspection, though if it is a long way from him he does charge a little more.
He quoted a flat fee of £600 for his full find service.

Thanks Mike...When I was shopping for my S I did a couple of longish journeys and wasn't too impressed with what I saw. When one came on the market local to me I was sort of swayed by the fact that it was just down the road. After buying it I saw a couple of real nice looking ones in the classifieds further afield that may have been better than the one I ended up with. I would really struggle having to hand over 600 notes to a third party for doing all the leg work but I suspect it would pay off, especially as the bloke knows his TVRs.
I borrowed a mates bible and read up on all the points to look out for, nevertheless, I think I was lucky with my purchase...at least it ticked all Steve Heath's boxes.
Good luck with your search....try and give it a good once over before they start the engine...the sound will make you want to own it...
Paul.
