996 GT2 Insurance

Guys, just a heads up for anyone looking to insure a 996 GT2, give Elephant a call.
I just got a quote for £1295.70!
That is:

Garaged
Good Postcode
3 additional drivers
With Modified exhaust and induction.
Only £400 more than my VX220, guess I just need someone to lend me £50k extra to buy one!

That is a cheap quote however I looked elsewhere for my GT3 (despite Elephant being much cheaper than anywhere else) because:
- I wanted track cover and Elephant wouldn't do it.. (other companies wanted silly money to cover individual track days unless I was insured with them)
- Whilst trying to get quotes, Elephant repeatedly got the type of car wrong.. they didn't recognise a GT3, only a 911 996 Carerra
- I didn't feel happy insuring £60k worth of car with a budget insurance company. I know of too many instances where 'pay outs' following claims have been substantially less than market rate

Depends what you mean by sensible! I ended up speaking to Bickley Insurance which is underwritten by NU (a number of the GT3 guys use them). They allow you to do track days on your existing policy for an additional 'per day' premium - the excess goes up of course.
Other also use AON or Peart Associates...

I'm not actually buying one! In a few years, maybe, but not yet!
I got the quote as I was suggesting one my my mates buy one, he's a year or two older and said the insurance would be crazy so I did a quote to find out.
I have used Elephant for 4 years now, they aren't a budget insurer. The 996 GT2 is available on the drop down box on their website.
Companies that provide track cover seem few and far between.

Took me some phone calls to Elephant but they finally did recognise the car & they did come back with a premium of £720.

Performance Marque have recently returned to being a very good deal in this area - you get free PCGB trackday cover and a relatively low per-day charge for other MSA-approved track days. No limits to the number of trackdays you can do, either!

Thats handy to know - cheers... Although I take it no Bedford? Will they cover european days such as the ring and Spa?

Now *THAT* IS Good News. I left PM last year go with A.Manning. Got free PCGB cover but cannot use the car anywhere else. Now - free PCGB days and the option to pay a small fee to go with other organisers track days....that's good enough to tempt me back. Might finally end up doing some Easytrack days (Brands GP).
Unfortunately still no Bedford, as it isn't MSA-approved. And no european tracks, as far as I know.
Of course CCI should cover those, but as a result I won't be doing too many Bedford days
One thing to watch out for is the excess - more and more companies are quoting 10% of vehicle value. I suppose to discourage too many claims... In my case I probably wouldn't both to claim unless it was >10% of the vehicle's value anyway, so it doesn't matter too much.

Has anyone tried Porsche's own inusrance, on my 997C2S they came in lower than anyone else. Also be careful with Elephant. They offered a mate of mine an excellent deal but when you read the detail, it was for 10 months cover! I had a similar thing with Budget, when I got to the nitty gritty they only covered crash damage and excluded theft!
