www.wembleystadium.com any use to you?

This will give you a feel, HP products, but pricing won't be too dissimilar.

When I put my home studio together, I paid a fiver for 2 metres of rack strips, then used some B&Q 2x2. I could easily make a 42u rack for less that £50

I should go into business!

Most people aren't paying for this stuff out of their own pocket though, so as long as its got lights on it and a smoked glass front door they don't really care!

You don't get much for your money, smoked glass maybe, but no flashing lights 'till you fill it with your favourite extortionately overpriced enterprise grade fibre optic multi gigabit switches!
....which got me thinking, wonder what your average full production rack setup costs when full up with SOTA flashy, blinking gadgets! Guess it wouldn't be that hard to spend over 100k on a multitude of rackservers and appropriate software and connections.
hmm, I need to get out more!

That would be sweet , most racks I see have been filled with a mixture of 5 year old stuff that's gone slightly yellow and 10 year old stuff that they stopped using 5 years ago and didnt have the bottle to turn off completely, with a token netgear wireless access point balanced on top like a christmas tree farie for good measure

19" racks go on eBay for silly money, 'cos of the difficulty of moving them, I imagine. There was a bloke in Docklands banging out Sun ones, with fans, sides, front and rear doors and power strips for £1 each, providing you came and got them. I was dead tempted except (i) my wife would kill me, (ii) I've already got my kit in Ikea shelving & (iii) I suspect it wouldn't go up the the stairs anyway...

Indeed, I bet that's a common sight!
We got 20 odd year old 486 dx/2's upstairs that it took me 2 years to persuade the management that we could switch off!
The external scsi hard drives sound like an air conditioning system!! Still work fine though!
Wonder how many companies mission critical systems still depend on hardware of this era?!!

Full rack of home media gear including media distribution, voip pbx, big NAS box, home controller and a media centre head in a very posh rackmount with colour coded patch leads patch panels, gigabit switches and shelves for all your existing AV gear is a very reasonable low 5 figures...

Yeah, you gotta be quite into your home media for that kind of investment!
cordless digital phone from amazon, home made cube PC wired into...variety of second hand seperates and speakers...in seperate room from...ex-rental sony TV and budget DVD player! Your talking high three figures (and that doesn't include the decimal places) for this kinda setup
