A friend of mine was involved in an incident on a roundabout where someone hit the side of his car while trying to turn right from the outside lane.
Problem is there were no witnesses and the old fella is saying that it is his fault because he drove into the back of him.
All damage was on the side and a very good report on the incident was sent to the insurance company showing there was no way the crash happened the way the old fella is saying. But he is having trouble proving his case. Large excess and NCP loss is making him worried.
Then last week completely by chance he meets a girl who lives on that roundabout who saw his car when it was waiting for recovery.
While chatting to her about it she offered to a witness to the incident to help him.
So.......... Should he take her up on the offer?
I said to call his insurance and in so many subtle ways let them know and see what they say.
Im sure they dont want his repair bill.
Thanks for any help

Lol edited to say she doesnt actually live on the roundabout, just beside it!

Never trust a gypsie.

Seriously though, if a witness has come forward then it makes the 'your word against his' and a report in your favour into two witnesses and an accident report in your favour. The other guy is 'bending the truth'...

Lol thats why I did the edit to clarify.
The only worry he had was that all partys would find it a bit suss,
her coming forward so late after the event.

I suspect the worst possible outcome would be that if she only saw the car parked, not the actual accident, and your mate puts her forward as a witness and it goes all the way to court and they sus her and it goes against them, then both could be done for purjury, insurance fraud, et al.
