Me and a mate are looking at heading somewhere next weekend, either friday night or saturday morning, until Sunday, for a few beers and somewhere different to go. I'm going to sort the flights with Air Miles, which I have with BMI, KLM/Air France, and airmiles.co.uk, so pretty much any location is doable, and he's going to sort a couple of rooms in a hotel.

But where to go?! I fancy going somewhere different, and have seen most of Western Europe, but we'd both like some decent snow, just to get in the mood for Christmas. So far i've thought about:

Stockholm
Oslo (going for work in a couple of weeks, but could still be done)
Helsinki (been before, but top place)
Rekjavik (seems expensive, and lengthy flight)
Milan
Hamburg
Berlin
Riga
Zurich
Warsaw (no idea about this place, but thought it may be interesting)

So where to go? As I said, a decent party scene, cheapish , an airport that isn't a million miles from the city, and some nice scenery would be nice too

Over to you! Cheers

Berlin is great.

But, the sum is self explanatory:

Airmiles + KLM = Amsterdam.

sorted

I had thought that, the easy option, and it is a top place, but has been done to death. I'm in Holland a couple of times a month or more for work, so needing a change...

But then... Oranjeboom

Some good thoughts here! My first thought was Prague, but the flights are a bit of a pain with the air miles I have...
New York was looked at, but hotels anywhere near the centre seemed to be an absolute fortune! Defintely one for the future though, but perhaps a bit much for one night?
Don't know much about Tallinn at all, will go and google it now. I've been to Copenhagen for work before, but haven't seen much of the city really. Do you reckon there will be snow this early?
Just spent the last 20 minutes finding out about Oslo, seems possible favourite so far... I've been told things are expensive though, beer etc. Ah decisions decisions!

Thanks folks, keep em coming!

My Polish friend always insists that Poland has the best looking women (not that he is biased or anything ). Always looks like a dreary place to go though.

Have you considered the Alps? I know you said you've done most of Western Europe but there are French, Swiss, Italian, Austrian, German and Belgian resorts to take into account, all with their own unique flavour. Having said that I don't know what kind of price ranges you're looking for

If you did choose them, I'd guess the PH way to get there is a Top Gear-style blast through the snowy country side in a classic GT car with skis on the roof, but as you've specified using air miles, never mind.

The beer is excellent though - the best from Germany and Belgium, plus good wine for those who might fancy a change.

So does Kiev.

St Petersburg wins hands down though in the Eastern European chick stakes. Bit cold there though.

How about Munich? It has Germany's best Christmas markets apparently. Going there next weekend, £233 for hotel 3 nights in the centre, flights £120 each or use yer miles.

Add in superb beer, great bars, more bavarian blondes than you can shake a stick at and you have a winning combination. And BMI fly there, as do BA, Lufthansa and EasyPants.

Yep, last I heard Prague is supposed to be better than Amsterdam.
