Stolen Sat Nav - Paid for on Credit Card
Discussion
I bought a Tom Tom 300 on 21 Sept via Amazon using my credit card and last night some scrote smashed my side window, forced open the locked glove compartment and stole it.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that I might be covered for theft of products purchased on a credit card.
Can anybody confirm this? It's a Create card from LloydsTSB
Thanks

Sorry to hear about this. Sadly it seems the scrotes are targetting these and looking for tell-tale sucker marks on windscreen ![]()
Pain in the backside but I never leave mine in the car.
So you still have the sat nav, but don't have a side window - or do you carefully erase all signs of sucker marks every time you leave the car as well?

AFAIK Credit card insurance only kicks in if no other insurance exists on a product.
As your gps is covered under your car insurance its probably a no-no.
Sorry
Sat nav is highly unlikely to be covered under car insurance. Most policies have a maximum personal effects cover of £100 and this usually comes with a £100 theft excess.
If you have personal effects or all risks cover on your household insurance it's worth trying under that especially as from the sounds of the original post the locked glove box was forced open.

Mine doesn't stick to the windscreen so there is no sucker mark (well there is, from an accelerometer!)
If somebody's going to smash the window there's not much I can do about it, but there's nothing to nick in there and the car is immobilised, alarmed, and has a disklok. They'd do better to try the car next to it with no steering lock or alarm and the face on the stereo...
