I have a recollection of watching a couple 'car' film when i was much younger - like 6yrs old. I have no idea what this films are. Maybe someone out there in PH land can help me out??

Here's the bits i can remember:

first one - lambourghini countach filthy dirty (i know its not much to go on!) arriving in a carpark. Maybe one of the gumball or cannonball type race-across-america films? its not either cannonball or gumball o because i've got those on video, but something similar? I remember this vividly 'cos i'd never seen a super car filthy dirty before from hard driving - at the time the only lambo i'd ever seen was in athena

ideas?

second one - american film, hot roders/drag racers - film starts with good guys crashing their car in a street race, and the basic story is about getting a car together to beat this flash guy in a drag race. The find an old lady with something old (car, i mean) but drag race-able in her garage and put their salvaged engine in it. they win the race, obviously.. oh, and its not 'two lane blacktop' before anyone suggest this.

Any ideas or suggestions welcome!!

cheers
Rob

The first one sounds like the Smokey and the Bandit two(?). The contach is being driven by a pair of veluptuous lasses in jumpsuits. They are being pursued by cops in their white Lamborghini.

The purpose of the stop in the car park was make use of some coveniently placed water hose, which, in the hands of one of the two girls was used to wash down the the "Raging Bull"to reveal that it was in fact red.

The girls drive back in the opposite direction staight past the still pursuant cops.

I'm sure Burt Reynolds and and a Merc 350sl were involved at some point. Maybe the girls were in the Merc and Reynolds was in the lamb chop....not sure..

....'twas a long time ago?

I'm almost certain that the water hose and Lambo scene was in one of the Canonball Run films.

The British film about 1950's sportscar racing is "The Green Helmet". Syd James played the team manager!

Daisy Duke = Barbara Bach = Hubba Hubba

Those legs! I watched the Dukes of Hazard a million times when I was a kid and never ever noticed her until I saw it on UK Gold or summat recently, when I noticed her quite a lot

I have a film at home where a red lambo being chased by the police is racing down a dirt track then skips a lake, using the same principal as skipping a stone over water. I think that turns up covered in mud with the rear wing inside the car. The film starred John Candy

I will post a reply tonight

White Lambo to Red Lambo on the dirt building site was Cannonball Run II with Catherine Bach as Marcie and Susan Anton as Jill. In the original Cannonball Run the Black Lambo was driven by Adrienne Barbeau as Marcia and Tara Buckman (hubba hubba) as Jill.

Here's pics of the original Countach as used in the Cannonball Run. Mmm, sweet.

The Daytona and Cobra in Gumball Rally got pretty shit up driving down those enourmous storm drain things. Could it be that...?
