I think this route takes in the best roads in South East Wales, i'd welcome any feedback.

Start at Beaufort and take the B4560 to Llangyndir

Llangyndir to Brecon on B4558

Brecon to Garth on B4520/B4519

Garth to Builth on A483

Builth to Brecon on B4520

Brecon to Nant Ddu on A470

Nant Ddu to Hirwaun on A4059

Hirwaun to Treorchy on A4061

Would have loved to have got the A4069 Brynamman road in but it was too far west.

When you get to Llangynidir, turn right and take the A4077 to Crickhowell, left over the bridge, left onto the A40 then take a right at the Cider Mill onto the A479 over the mountain to Talgarth.

The A479 will give you every type of bend and straight you can think of.

Superb!!!

Have done some similar routes with the Wedge crew. We went from Garth to Beulah then on to Llandrindod for a pit stop before coming back down the 483.
I need a fix

Many options. Maybe Garth to Beulah then B4358 to Llandrindod. many options from there. Also from Garth to Llandovery on the A483 and there there is the gem, Llyn Brianne.

I did LLyn Brianne not long back and have to say I wasn't overly impressed. It is essentially a single track road with poor long range visibility making it difficult to drive it how you would really like. Very spectacular though!

Forget the south east and get a bit further north of Builth.

Some cracking routes if you know where to look, also there is a little road in the Elan Valley that is mostly single track that goes from Devils Bridge near Aberystwyth to Rhayader. Stunning views and great driving if its quiet.
Or a little further north you can follw the A470 up through the mountains.

Basicaly take any route out of Builth going north and then turn off somewhere and go discover

I totally agree. The problem is most of the population lives South of the M4, so i was trying to come up with something that doesn't involve having to drive for an hour and a half to get to it.

I don't mind the drive out, 1/2 hour for me and I am in some of the best roads going. Thing is, there are also a few good routes around the vale etc but its getting worse traffic wise. I don't mind going further for a good day out. Much of the list you posted is around a 1/2 day blat. West, Mid and North are again worth exploring if you have time. Did a 3 day run around Wales a few years ago. Great time. Me, the missis and the Wedge and no scamera's in sight...... well, not many where I went.
